Following on from commercially successful SMS and mobile campaigns for many clients including Nottingham Trent University and Alliance and Leicester Commercial Bank, headland have identified a need to provide both mobile micropayments and ecommerce payment systems and are currently undergoing research within the mobile market with a view to provide a quality mobile payment system with an emphasis on cost effectiveness, intuitive user interface and full integration.
As part of the research and development, headland are looking at payment systems ranging from SMS to WAP and client software which runs directly on the mobile device, offering the customer and the supplier a range of methods to pay or be paid on their mobile device.
Ken Heptonstall , Managing Director of headland said, ‘’It is inevitable that the mobile market will find a secure solution for payments via the mobile. Everyone carries a mobile 24/7. It’s just sometimes going to be more convenient for people to pay a bill whilst on a train, at a football match, or shopping using a mobile. headland want to be part of this process and help its many customers get an early foothold in the market’’
Craig Pickles, Technical Director of headland added, “We are living in a era where mobile devices are a prolific part of our lives, from out of office users devoted to their Blackberrys and full range of mobile internet devices based around Windows Mobile, Symbian and Linux, to the consumers with their upcoming Apple iPhones and current WAP and SMS based mobile phones. It amazes me that a quality and easy to use mobile payment system does not exist and our research is designed to help us understand the potential of this new market”
