British Occupational Hygiene Society

Trade association ecommerce and online tools

The BOHS website represents the latest phase in the transition of the British Occupational Hygiene Society’s move to full online integration. The site features membership and events ecommerce facilities, a secure members dashboard providing the all levels of membership with a personalised space and online tools to manage the high volume of quality information available to them on the site.

The CPD area within the members dashboard provides the membership with a secure personal account. The membership data ported from the existing database can now be interrogated at a granular level. Leeds City Region

Public sector website and intranet design & build

Headland were asked by Leeds City Region to design and build a new portal for the people who live and work in eleven local authorities across the Yorkshire region.

The portal we created is built on the Ektron 400.net CMS. As well as an information portal the site also features secure collaborative working areas for the city region leaders, project teams and researchers working within the local authorities. The collaborative working areas feature: project team calendars, meeting planning, document development areas and project team alerts.

The Leeds City Region Partnership brings together the Local Authorities of Barnsley, Bradford, Calderdale, Craven, Harrogate, Kirklees, Leeds, Selby, Wakefield and York, and North Yorkshire County Council to work together toward common aims for a truly sustainable city region in areas such as transport, skills, housing and spatial planning. The site fully supports the objectives set out by the Leeds City Region.

Sunderland AFC Foundation

Publicly funded football based elearning software

This registered charity of Sunderland Football Club built on the extremely successful SAFCommunity scheme uses the power of football to educate and motivate young people from Sunderland and its surrounding areas. Last year the scheme helped over 30,000 children through innovative projects, advancing literacy and numeracy and improving confidence and aspirations, as well as raising awareness of citizenship issues and improving employment skills.

Their family learning projects work to improve literacy and numeracy in an informal yet exciting setting in the Centre of Light classrooms. Headland were briefed to create the elearning software to support the programme from Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 4.

We worked with qualified educational writers to create the programme and the scripts and our in-house turned the QCA approved scripts into compelling elearning solutions creating educational Flash games, video and 360º tours.

EM Media

Public arts website design & build

We were appointed to deliver their online rebrand. EM Media’s Headland's built Content Management System was the technical platform for the site design. EM-Media staff use the CMS for creating and posting regular news bulletins. News items are archived within a document download area which also provides access to media funding, training resources and application forms. The site features rolling advertising banners that are updateable within the CMS. Other features include a Flash-video showreel showcasing the best of EM-Media's filmmaking investments. Sponsored links from partner organisations are also supported in the navigation panels, all editable via the CMS. The website also functions as a portal for the regional Film facilities and Location database. The website design and build is compliant with agreed accessibility standards appropriate to the audience and funding model.

East Lancashire Local Authorities

Public engagement website

We were briefed by the five East Lancashire local authorities to provide residents with an online voice. Also a channel to promote up and coming executive decisions affecting residents as well as simply promoting news from the local authorities that they may want to comment on.

The technical requirements of the brief were addressed by deploying the EKtron CMS400.net content management system configured to the requirements of the brief with additional bespoke .NET elements integrated. All content and data on the site is segmented based on geographical location and areas of interest. Public consultations are posted by the local authority administrators. The public interface allows for mini surveys to be located at strategic points throughout asking the visitor if they ‘agree’ ‘disagree’ or are ‘undecided’ about the point or proposal being put forward.

Residents can propose polls, add to forum discussions or even add video and imagery. In short have their opinions relating to their region heard online.
