Risk mitigation, technical consultancy and brand refresh for the Law Society

At Headland we have the technical and creative capability to manage wide ranging briefs. In this instance the Law Society’s brief tapped into our experience in a number of areas.

The brief was to set up a new cloud hosting environment on AWS and migrate and rebuild the society’s main website from the existing host. Once migrated we were to carry out an interim refresh of the brand in advance of a major brand and platform overhaul. The current website is an Ektron CMS build.

The brief for the society’s intranet was similar – migrate to a new cloud hosting environment, this time in addition to the brand refresh. We were briefed to restructure the website’s navigation and content database. The intranet is an Umbraco build and the hosting infrastructure Azure.

The project called for thorough requirements gathering, analysis of dependencies and risk assessments. A detailed definition of scope was required, and a project plan and detailed costings agreed. Research confirmed each environment (AWS and Azure) appropriate to GDPR requirements, and confirmed the appropriate level of resilience for the lawsociety.org.uk website and intranet sites.

We provide fully managed cloud hosting services to several of our clients on AWS on both the Umbraco and Ektron CMS platforms. To ensure the performance required we thoroughly tested a pilot with the live website production code. The successful migration of the sites was carried out with the minimum content freeze period. The interim brand refresh provides a contemporary skin to the full array of existing functionality and was deployed once the site migrations were complete and production code promoted to live.

We are now retained to provide BAU support for both lawsociety.org.uk and the society’s intranet site.
