Website build in Umbraco CMS
With 310,000 and 129 branches The Oddfellows is the largest and oldest of the friendly societies. The membership organisation features the eponymously named Oddfellows fraternal services and the Unity Mutual financial services division offering ISAs, investment funds and protection products. The initial brief to Headland was to deliver a new website design providing enhanced member service and for the site to be built on the Umbraco CMS.
The development work was initiated through our stakeholder workshop programme, designed to identify and prioritise all stakeholder requirements and wider opportunities. Based on the outputs of the workshops we progressed to developing the functional specification for approval prior to the build. The leading priorities were to enhance the online experience for existing members, provide a simple to use registration subscription flow, move renewals to self-serve reducing the strain on inhouse resources and provide the inhouse team with a state-of-the-art content management system to allow them to maximise the content marketing opportunities.
We developed The Oddfellows site to a new set of brand guidelines. The site featured a bespoke events management system for the promotion of events and events search across all branches and activities. Membership subscription and ecommerce activities are now fully integrated with the organisation’s CRM and 3rd party back-office systems. Headland support and maintain the website alongside the IT team. We use Zoho as the core project management and ticketing platform.

The Umbraco CMS platform, integrated member services and financial services application APIs have provided The Oddfellows with the state-of-the-art online presence the organisation required to maximise resource and broaden their fraternal audience for events and member offers. Headland now provide support for the live platform.
A rewarding, collaborative team effort in delivering a fraternal membership community website and significantly enhanced UX and admin experience.
